College GPA Calculator
Calculate your term and projected cumulative GPA using college course grades and credit hours on a 4.0 scale.
How the college GPA formula works
GPA is a credit-weighted average. Convert letter grades to grade points, multiply each by the credit hours, add the resulting quality points and divide by the total counted credit hours.
Term GPA = total quality points divided by counted course credit hours. A four-credit A earns 16 quality points; a three-credit B earns 9. Together 25 divided by 7 gives 3.57.
Semester GPA and cumulative GPA
A term GPA includes the current semester. Cumulative GPA combines previous credits and grade points with the new term. Check your school grading scale: plus/minus values, repeat policies and transfer-credit rules vary.
Do pass or withdrawal grades count?
A P or W is commonly excluded from the GPA, while an F counts as zero grade points. Your official institution policy controls.
