Final grade formula
Required exam score equals target grade minus current grade times the nonfinal course weight, divided by final exam weight (as a decimal).
With 87% before a final worth 30%, a 90% target requires 97% on the final: (90 - 87 times 0.70) divided by 0.30.
Can I still earn my target grade?
When the required score exceeds 100%, the target cannot be reached with the final exam alone unless additional grading adjustments or approved extra credit apply. Check the syllabus for special rules.
What grade will I earn?
Predicted overall grade equals current grade times (1 minus final weight), plus expected final exam score times the final weight.
